Community protests bail for security guards accused of kidnapping and attempted murder – KwaDukuza

The bail application continues for the New Guelderland attempted murder and Kidnapping case on Wednesday.

The four men arrested in connection with the human remains recently found in New Guelderland will continue their bail application in the KwaDukuza Regional Court on Wednesday, May 12.

During their second appearance on Friday, a group of residents demonstrated outside the court with placards, demanding the accused not be granted bail.

The accused face charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.

The remains are believed to be those of close friends Junior Dlamini (19) and Azeer Rahiman (30) who went missing on April 23.

Both men were allegedly assaulted by security officers to extract a confession after Dlamini was accused of theft. It was suspected he had hidden the stolen items at Rahiman’s house.

The two disappeared after the incident, and family members are awaiting DNA results to confirm if the remains are those of the missing friends.

The court heard bail pleas from accused number one, Soorav Dew Maharaj, and accused number two, Meluleki Bubele Praisegod Mkhize on Friday.

Bail pleas from the other two accused, Nkosinathi Khoza and Siphesihle Zubane, will be heard on Wednesday.

Maharaj told the court he works as a fleet maintenance manager at Lask Security, while Mkhize stated he is a technical manager at the same company.
