Woman shot dead in Etete while trying to escape violent ex-partner

The suspect, allegedly an former convict with a history of gender-based violence, fled the scene on foot.

A 40-year-old woman was shot and killed on the R102 in Etete this morning, allegedly by her former partner, the father of her child.

Reports suggest she recently ended the relationship but he refused to accept the break-up.

According to a source, the man had been abusive towards her and reportedly attempted to pour boiling water on her last Sunday, prompting her to flee.

This morning, seeing her driving to work, he followed and deliberately crashed into her car.

As she tried to escape on foot, he allegedly pulled out a gun and fatally shot her in the head and body.

The suspect, allegedly an ex-convict with a history of gender-based violence, fled the scene on foot.

Police are searching for him.
