Swift action leads to arrest of three Palm Lakes robbers

The estate had previously not had a break-in in almost 20 years of operation.

The Palm Lakes Family Estate suffered their first break-in in almost 20 years on January 26.

Three men breached the estate but were quickly found and arrested. Estate manager, Ross Bishop said that, as a result, the estate’s CCTV surveillance system would be rolled out faster.

“This upgraded system will include state-of-the-art thermal and AI-powered analytic cameras to provide comprehensive, early detection and real-time monitoring of our perimeter.”

He praised Saps and IPSS for catching the thieves by tracking a stolen cell phone. The triggered fence alarms alerted estate security, but the burglars managed to enter three homes through open and unlocked sliding doors.

“Thanks to the swift action of a resident whose phone was stolen, we were able to track the device and, with the assistance of IPSS Security tactical team and the Umhlali Saps Special Investigations Unit, successfully apprehend the suspects and recover nearly all the stolen items.”
