Shaka’s Head man rescued from five kidnappers after house robbery
The man was allegedly forced into his own car and told to withdraw money from a nearby ATM.
Five men were arrested when cops caught them while kidnapping a 32-year-old Shaka’s Head man yesterday.
The robbers had reportedly earlier broken into his home, before allegedly forcing him into his car at knifepoint and taking him to an ATM to draw money.
The man’s mother contacted Umhlali Saps, who discovered the kidnapping in process and arrested all five men.
They were charged with house robbery and kidnapping and will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court.
Along with the car, cops also recovered a safe that had been ripped from the man’s bedroom wall during the robbery.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.
iLembe District police commissioner, Major General Anthony Gopaul, applauded the swift police reaction.
“Their rapid response and effective coordination led to the immediate arrest of these dangerous suspects and the safe rescue of the victim,” said Gopaul.
“This incident serves as a clear demonstration of our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our communities.”
“We will continue to work tirelessly to combat crime and bring perpetrators to justice.”
