Police bust men in stolen vehicle tampering with Eskom transformer – Glendale
Saps gave chase on the P104 road before making the arrests.
Three men are behind bars after they were caught in possession of a stolen vehicle and tampering with an Eskom transformer in Glendale on Sunday, March 31.
According to iLembe police spokesperson Captain Alex Thomson, officers responded to a tip-off and arrested the men – aged between 25 and 45 – following a brief chase on the P104 road.
“Further investigation revealed that the vehicle the suspects were using had been reported stolen in a case investigated by Umhlali Saps in November 2024,” said Thomson.
The men appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court and were remanded while further investigations continue.
In a separate incident, a 38-year-old man was arrested for murder after allegedly stabbing a 35-year-old man during a dispute over alcohol at a traditional event in Nsuze on Sunday, March 30.
Although the altercation was initially resolved, the suspect is accused of later attacking the victim as he walked home, fatally stabbing him.
Police were alerted by residents and arrested the suspect the following day. He appeared at the Nsuze Magistrates Court and was also remanded in custody pending further investigation.
