Double drug arrest in Ballito nets alleged cocaine and crystal meth dealer

One of the men attempted to bribe the police when he was stopped in a drug related search.

The police made two drug-related arrests in Ballito on Sunday in separate operations, seizing narcotics with a street value of about R26 000 and charging a second man with attempting to bribe an officer.

In the first case, a 22-year-old man was arrested at a residential complex on Compensation Beach Road. He was found in possession of 23 sachets of cocaine powder, two sachets of crystal meth and six portions of ‘Cat’ (Methcathinone).

His vehicle, believed to have been used for drug deliveries, was also confiscated.

He faces three counts of illegal drug possession and appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court on Monday. He remains in police custody.

In a separate incident, officers arrested a 23-year-old man after he allegedly attempted to bribe police during a drug-related stop elsewhere in Ballito. He also appeared in court on Monday and remains in custody pending further investigation.

Police have praised the swift arrests as part of their ongoing clampdown on drug trafficking in the iLembe region.
