Mandeni father sentenced to four life terms for raping his children

The four children testified against their father and explained their trauma experienced after their father had raped them on several occasions.

The Eshowe Regional Court recently sentenced a Mandeni man to four life imprisonments for raping his four biological minor children.

The 41-year-old had raped the children while their mother was not at home; the children were between the ages of two and eight years old at the time of the incidents, which took place from 2015 to 2019.

According to the victims, the father would call them when they were playing outside and rape them inside the home.

The man would threaten them to prevent them from disclosing the rape to their mother.

The mother opened a case at Mandeni Saps after noticing injuries to the children. The case was transferred to the iLembe District FCS Unit and was investigated by Sergeant Brian Mehlo Mbalane.

Despite the man pleading not guilty and denying the allegations against him, the diligent work of the investigating officer ensured the man remained in custody throughout the trial and was denied bail.

“The four children testified against their father and explained their trauma experienced after their father had raped them on several occasions; the victim’s medical records confirmed the children’s injuries were related to the rape.

“The man was sentenced to life imprisonment for each count of rape and his name was ordered by the court to be entered in the national register for sex offenders. He was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said iLembe police communication official, Priya Nunkumar-Bukum.
