Two Nigerian men were arrested after police raided an estate in Shaka’s Head, outside Ballito on Monday, leading to the recovery of drugs worth an estimated R40 000.

The operation was carried out by EON Crime Intelligence and the Umhlali K9 Unit.

Police conducted a search inside the estate and found cocaine, crystal meth and methcathinone (cat). In total, police recovered more than 100 packets of cocaine, over 30 packets of cat and seven packets of crystal meth. Both men were detained at Umhlali police station.

This latest arrest adds to a series of drug busts in Ballito and KwaDukuza over the past two years.

In a similar arrest in January 2025, two men were arrested in Ballito after being found with dozens of packets of cocaine powder and crystal meth during a police operation. The recovered drugs had a street value of more than R40 000.

Estate management declined to comment.
