Three arrested for KwaDukuza theft after high speed chase

The thieves had robbed two stores in the KwaDukuza CBD earlier that day.

Three men were arrested by security guards following thefts from two shops in KwaDukuza on Monday.

The incident was first reported on a local crime-prevention group, which shared a description of the vehicle and noted it was travelling southbound on the R102.

An Ensure Security officer positioned himself along the vehicle’s expected route and soon spotted it.

When the occupants realised they were being followed, they attempted to flee, prompting a high-speed chase.

The vehicle was eventually stopped and the three men were taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of stolen chocolates and children’s clothing from two local shops, with an estimated total value of about R1 600.

iLembe police communications officer Priya Nunkumar confirmed that the men were taken to the KwaDukuza police station and that a case has been opened.
