Father and two young daughters found dead in Tongaat home
The children's school transporter reportedly raised the alarm when the children did not report for collection.
A man and his two young daughters were found dead at a home in Shastri Circle, Tongaat, on Tuesday afternoon in what police believe may be a murder-suicide.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram, the organisation received a call for assistance at 1.49pm after reports of three unresponsive people at the residence.
Reaction officers arrived on the scene, where members of the police and other private emergency services were already in attendance.
Balram said the bodies of an adult man and two girls, aged four and six, were discovered inside the house.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the children’s scholar transport service provider raised the alarm when the children did not report for collection.
While the exact cause of the children’s deaths has not yet been established, it is alleged that the father may have killed the girls before taking his own life.
Tongaat Saps spokesperson, captain JV Naidoo, confirmed that a suicide note was found and that police are investigating two cases of murder and an inquest.
Authorities have withheld further details due to the sensitive nature of the case.
