Big boost for KwaDukuza entrepreneurs

KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca emphasised the need to create favourable business conditions to promote long-term employment opportunities, wealth creation and inclusivity.

Local entrepreneurs stand to gain considerable expertise during the KwaDukuza Municipality’s entrepreneurship month over the next two weeks.

More than 1 000 entrepreneurs from different backgrounds will participate in various activities such as outreach sessions, classes and business workshops.

Business tools will also be provided to deserving small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs).

Announcing the launch of the programme at La Montagne on Tuesday, mayor Lindi Nhaca said sessions will be hosted at different venues across KwaDukuza.

The highlight of the initiative will be a business seminar and exhibition on November 28, during which 30 deserving entrepreneurs will receive business start-up equipment.

With an allocation of R1.5 million, the seminar is expected to attract more than 600 participants, including exhibitors.

Nhaca emphasised the need to create favourable business conditions to promote long-term employment opportunities, wealth creation and inclusivity.

She said November is dedicated to celebrating local entrepreneurship and the vital role of small businesses to stimulate the local economy.

This month’s event marks the 8th edition of the programme, previously known as Small Business Week and last hosted in 2019 before the impact of Covid-19.

“We offer our gratitude to all private stakeholders and state organs for their support in making this initiative possible,” said Nhaca.

She said the KwaDukuza council has always advocated for partnerships between the private and public sectors as the main catalyst for achieving socio-economic transformation goals.
