Cycle champ to defend world title

Natalie Bergstromis raising funds to attend next year’s competition in Norway.

Local world champ mountain biker Natalie Bergstrom has set her sights on next year’s competition in Lillehammer, Norway.
Bergstrom, married and mother of two, recently took the gold in her division of the 2013 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, (‘The North Coast’s very own world champ’, Courier, August 30).
Determined to defend her title and bring home the gold again for South Africa, Bergstrom is not only training furiously, but needs to raise the funds to get to Norway next year in order to compete.
“I need all the support I can get,” said Bergstrom, talking on her phone from the saddle of her bicycle.
“This year has been totally amazing winning the World Masters in SA, but next year it is in Norway. Any financial help whether it be personally or from the corporate sector, will help us to achieve our goal in bringing the gold home!”
Bergstrom’s first fund raiser will be held at Collisheen Estate on Friday, November 8, in the form of a Hawaiian themed fun evening. R125 per person includes dinner.
To support the fund raising event or for more information, contact Bergstrom on 078 431 2892.
