Two kilograms of cocaine were discovered and a Bolivian national arrested for smuggling drugs into the country arrested at King Shaka International airport on Monday evening.

This comes just two weeks after two people were arrested for trying to smuggle crystal methamphetamine through the airport.

The Durban Organised Crime unit and customs officials arrested the 31-year-old man after his flight from Brazil, via Dubai, touched down at the airport.

Officials had received information that the drugs, worth R600 000, were on board the flight. Upon arrival, the man was identified and detained.

His bag was searched and two parcels containing two kilograms of cocaine were discovered in the lining of his bag. He is due to appear at the Verulam Magistrate’s court today.
