The 14th putting green at Umhlali country club was vandalised on Friday, November 1.
“It’s one of those things you can’t really police,” said the club’s general manager John Boyce.
“From the erratic pattern of the damage we can only assume it was either vandalism or sabotage. We do not have any disgruntled staff,” he said.
The damage is thought to have been done with petrol, diesel, or another chemical substance.
Boyce appealed to anybody with any information to come forward. The club is doing what they can to repair the damage, though if they are unable to, the green will need to be replaced at an estimated cost of R40 000.
