Three men suspected of shooting a woman dead in her home near Mandini have been arrested.
Isabel Nathi Dludla (54) was in her rondavel hut in Sundumbili with her two grandchildren on November 7, when she was attacked by unknown men who shot her and set the house alight, according to police.
The children, both aged five, managed to get out of the house. One child was shot in the chest while the other was unharmed, and the injured child was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The suspects were arrested on Thursday night at Emankengeni by Sundumbili SAPS detectives on charges of murder, attempted murder and arson.
Aged between 28 and 35, they were allegedly found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and a 7.65 pistol believed to have been used in the attack.
The men appeared in the Eshowe magistrates’ court on Friday.
“We want these arrests to send a clear message that if you commit a crime in this province we will make sure that we arrest you. No one can evade the long arm of the law,” said provincial commissioner, lieutenant general Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
