Horrific train accident kills two

The taxi is believed to have been carrying mostly Lifestyle Superspar employees.

A man and woman were killed in a horrific accident in Shakashead last night.

A taxi believed to be carrying mostly Lifestyle Superspar employees left Ballito around 8.30pm.

The driver apparently lost control of the taxi just after the Chaka’s Rock offramp, hitting the steel railing.

The taxi went down the embankment and stopped on the railway tracks, where it was run over by a train.

Netcare911, IPSS medical and EMRS paramedics took the injured passengers to nearby hospitals.

“Two people were found in a critical condition and 16 were seriously injured,” said Netcare911’s Santi Steinmann.

The taxi driver allegedly ran away from the accident scene.

A 43-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured on the N2 near Tinley Manor on Sunday morning.

He was taken to a nearby hospital.
