Siza Water provides practical skills.

Twelve people from Etete, Shakashead, Nkobongo and Shayamoya were recently selected to receive practical training to equip them to build their own lives.
The masonry training, sponsored by Sembcorp Siza Water and taught by Kuyakhanyo training and development and Inchanga FET, comprised of fifteen days of learning and supervised practical building experience.
“I spoke to the trainees and to some of the ward councillors, and everybody was very happy with the training,” said Sembcorp Siza Water managing director Shyam Misra.
According to Misra, there is scope to expand the project further next year, and together with the Ilembe Chamber of Commerce help desk, the building trainees have been put on a database to assist them to find work.
“We have given them an idea of what they need to do to find employment. We did not want to just train them and then leave them.”
This training constitutes the first level of a National Certificate in building and civil construction.
