Counselling for accident survivors

Community pulls together after train/taxi accident.

The North Coast is pulling together following the tragic Shakashead accident involving a train and taxi on Sunday night.

Ballito resident Matthew Austin has offered to pay for counselling for the injured and their families.

Lifestyle Superspar employees Denzil Chetty and Paul Ramsamy were killed and 16 others injured

when the taxi taking them home plunged down the N2 Chaka’s Rock bridge embankment.

The driver apparently failed to stop at the off-ramp and lost control of the taxi.

Chetty and Ramsamy were run over by the train as they were pulling survivors from the wreck.

Police are still looking for the driver, who allegedly ran away from the accident scene.

For more information on the counselling, families may contact Vanita Sheriff on 073 041 7803.
