Preparing for bridge demolition

Two lanes of the new interchange bridge opened to traffic this morning.

The entrance to Ballito is fast shaping up ahead of the busy festive season.

Two lanes of the new interchange bridge opened to traffic this morning and plans are under way to demolish the existing N2 Ballito bridge by the weekend.

SMEC on-site engineer Dave Kendal said motorists should slow down approaching the bridge.

“One lane in each direction is open and there is clear signage to get back onto the N2 south or north, and to Compensation.”

A single lane is open leading from the N2 Ballito off-ramp into Ballito.

A portion of the P445 is cordoned off while construction workers drill on the existing bridge, preparing for demolition.
