Crime report
A young man was assaulted at the Rage party after an altercation close to midnight on Friday.
The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:
- A young man was assaulted at the Rage party after an altercation close to midnight on Friday.
- A house on Ashley Road was broken into on Friday night after the holiday makers went out. When they came back they found that the bathroom window had been used to gain entry to the house. R60 000 worth of items and furniture were stolen.
- R25 000 worth of household items were stolen from a home inside Tanglewood Estate on Saturday.
- A house on Patricia Road was burgled on Saturday night and cellphones, tablets, wallets and a laptop bag were stolen valued at R41 300. The resident had not locked the front door of the house.
- A couple were robbed at gunpoint outside their house near Snyman’s Area in Etete by two men. They were threatened at gunpoint and the thieves stole a cellphone, handbag and cash before fleeing.
- While a man was sleeping inside his home in Mbonambi’s Place in Etete on Saturday, three men broke into the house and demanded cash. The resident had no money so the intruders stole his grasscutter. One of the suspects is known by police.
- A man was arrested after trying to bribe an officer at Umhlali Station to release his brother who was in jail for drug charges on Saturday night.
- Two men robbed a woman while she was walking home on Etete Main Road on Sunday evening.
Umhlali SAPS arrested 39 people for drinking in public, five for possession of marijuana, seven for drunk driving, one for reckless and negligent driving, two for fishing act violations, two for road traffic offences and one person was arrested for disturbing the peace.
