bands put on a spectacular show at the KZN Celebration Centre on Friday evening in an effort to raise funds for Haven of Rest.
Haven of Rest provides a home and school for the sick and destitute. They also run the same project in Malawi where they are planning to build seven hospices next year.
Friday’s High Street Musical hosted bands such as the Captives and Carousels, Just Anointed Musicians and Zion Matthew.
The packed hall was jamming to gospel, soul and even rock music until late hours of the night.
Haven of Rest founder Pastor Naidoo thanked the organising team and said reaching out to the underprivileged was the cornerstone of Christianity.
“The Word says when you reach out to the poor, you reach out to God. I know this to be true because it is through the godliness in everyone that we have the Haven of Rest today. People and organisations who are constantly supporting us so that we can drive the good work forward,” said Naidoo.
Dozens of audience members won prizes, while three lucky ticket holders took home a R1000 cash prize each.
Organiser of the event Christopher Reddy said Friday’s show was the first of the many High Street Musicals to come.
The Haven of Rest is also selling clothing items for both kids and adults and they are available at their centre in Brake Village, Tongaat.
