Candles and angels at Umhlali Primary

What could be more delightful than a choir of young angels singing Christmas carols?

Festive cheer was at an all time high at the Carols by Candlelight at Umhlali Preparetory last Friday.

Family and friends gathered on the school’s top field with blankets and picnic baskets, and laughter and the buzz of conversation filled the school grounds while the sun sank on what for many was the last day of work and official start of the holiday.

The event, organised by Christ Church North Coast, came to Umhlali school after being so popular last year that more space was needed this time round.

“We were really delighted with it,” said organiser Debbie Gobbett.

A choir of little, and some big, angels sang Christmas carols and performed a nativity play while spectators lit candles under the stars.
