First double drowning victim found

A crocodile damaged body of a boy who drowned on Wednesday has been recovered.

A damaged body of one of the boys who drowned while swimming in the Tugela River on Wednesday has been found.

Nhlanhlakayise Ntuli and Senzo Gumede had been swimming with six of their friends when the two boys disappeared on Wednesday.

Ballito’s Specialised Rescue Unit, police divers and K9 rescue dogs and handlers searched the area for the past two days without any luck.

Yesterday morning they resumed the search with the help of one of the volunteers, David Brown and the community trailing the banks in hope that the children would be found soon.

The police helicopter joined the search this morning and a body of one of the boys was located and recovered by Sergeant Kotze approximately seven kilometres down the river.

The body had been damaged by crocodiles in the river and the rescue team is still waiting for the family to identify him.

The search continues for the second victim.
