Eight distinctions for DGC Dux

Hard work, consistency and self-motivation were the ingredients of Courtney Mather’s recent academic success.
The Salt Rock girl, who was a boarder at Durban Girls College (DGC), hauled in eight distinctions in her final IEB Matric exams.
This was a great way to complete her already very successful schooling career, having been Dux of Umhlali Prep and of DGC’s middle and high schools along the way.
She wrote English, Afrikaans, maths and maths paper three, life orientation, physical dcience and accounting in her final exams. Being self-driven from a young age, Courtney believes her secret is a simple one.
“Consistency is key, you have to keep working throughout the year, putting in a few hours every day.”
The next stage of her life will be in Cape Town.
“I am going to UCT to study a Bcom in Financial Accounting.”
Courtney aims to qualify as a chartered accountant.
