Traffic officer shoots fiancé
She shot him three times outside Sundumbili police station.
A 47-year-old man was shot, allegedly by his fiancé, at the Sundumbili police station last night.
According to KZN Media officer Colonel Jay Naicker, the couple arrived at the police station in separate vehicles.
Naicker said they believed she had been chasing him.
The female traffic officer, got out of her car and shot the man three times with her service pistol.
The woman (35), was arrested for attempted murder and is due to appear in the Nyoni Magistrates court on Friday, January 17.
IPSS Security Operations’ emergency services were on the scene and tended to the injured man.
“We received a call at about 6pm with regards to a shooting at Sundimbili SAPS,” said Rakesh Baldeo, IPSS’s EMS manager.
“On arrival we found a 47-year-old male with gunshot wounds to right shoulder, abdomen and left thigh region.”
Baldeo stabilised the gun-shot victim on the scene, dressed his wounds and set up an IV line. The patient was then taken to Victoria hospital in a stable condition.
The EMS manager is confident the victim will bounce back from the incident.
“After we had calmed him down and stabilised him, he was alright. He’ll definitely make a recovery but it will take some time.”
