A win for the East Coast

Erica Platter does it again!

A cookbook penned by local veteran journalist Erica Platter has earned top honours in the 2013 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

East Coast Tables, The Inland Edition has been named the South African winner for best African cuisine cookbook of the year and now stands a chance to win the World Cuisine (Africa) title.

The book, with stunning photography by Clinton Friedman, is a sequel to East Coast Tables, collections of recipes from KwaZulu-Natal and the Midlands. Both books were published by East Coast Radio. The first book, which featured recipes from locals and celebrities in KZN, won South Africa’s best local cookbook in 2010.

“We are thrilled that KZN’s multi-cultural culinary heritage, our food heroes and our brilliant produce have again been recognised. African cuisine is a melting pot of a multitude of traditional dishes and influences, and that is what the recipes in East Coast Tables reflect,” said Platter. East Coast Radio general manager Trish Taylor said the books are an authentic portrayal of local food, life and culture. You can get both books from Exclusive Books and online from www.ecr.co.za.
