Teenager swept out to sea

Third drowning on the North Coast.

Emergency services are searching for a 17-year-old boy who is feared to have drowned in Tinley Manor this afternoon.

According to Rapid Care’s Paul Herbst, the Groutville teenager was swimming with three friends when he got caught in a rip tide near the tidal pool around 1.45pm.

“He was swimming and got into some trouble. His friends got out of the water and saw that he had disappeared in the surf,” said Herbst.

Herbst told the Courier that a jet ski was being put into the water to continue the search.

The SAPS airwing is also expected to assist with search.
