Winning photographers showcased
Professional and budding photographers get behind the lens.
The Dolphin Coast Conservancy photography competition winners were announced at the conservancy’s meeting on Monday evening.
The event, held over two Saturday mornings last year at Thompson’s Bay pool, saw photographers of varying ages and experience take part, with equipment ranging from professional SLR’s to cellphone cameras.
Regardless of experience, all showed the same enthusiasm for the competition.
Aiming to show off the beauty of the Dolphin Coast while creating conservation awareness, participators submitted their photographs to the judges, Louisa Stranack from Capture South Africa Photography, Ken Mann from Ace Photography and conservancy member Alett Kimber, who chose the winning pictures according to categories and rules.
The rules of the competition stated simply that the photographs had to be taken on the days of the competition and minimal editing was allowed.
Bebhinn Spoors won the best photograph category while the best technical photograph went to Stephen Gore.
Jasper van Vessem bagged the prize for most creative photograph, with Robbie Sturgeon winning best marine photograph and Glynnis Salvado took the best coastal photograph.
Johan Mynhardt took the photograph with the best conservation message and Lihle Mncube was deemed to be the most enthusiastic photographer.
All of the winning images are displayed at www.dolphincoastconservancy.co.za as well as at Pick N Pay at the Ballito Junction.
