Arts and culture MEC Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha made hundreds of pupils smile yesterday.
The district champion visited Sigedleni and Mhlumba Primary Schools in Ndwedwe, outside Tongaat, to hand over school uniform and sanitary towels as part of her back-to-school programme.
She also handed over educational toys to grade R pupils at both schools.
The pupils all come from poverty-stricken families and their parents could not afford school uniforms as they are unemployed.
