A man died and one person was injured in a serious accident on the N2 near the Tongaat Toll Plaza around 9pm last night.
Rapid Care’s Paul Herbst said a red VW Polo was travelling south just before the toll when it lost control and hit a truck.
“The car then veered across onto the northbound lane and collided head-on with a bakkie .”
KwaDukuza Road Traffic Inspectorate officers, fire department, SAPS and Rapid Care were on the scene.
The driver of the Polo, a male in his forties, was declared dead on the arrival of Netcare911 paramedics.
Big Show Towing’s Ismail Mitha said the scene was horrific, with debris scattered all over the road.
Netcare911 spokesman Chris Botha said the driver of the bakkie, a Chevy SUV, was taken to a nearby hospital.
