No luck with cliff rescue

A woman is still missing after reportedly being thrown off a cliff.

A 31-year-old woman is missing after she was reportedly attacked by a group of people and thrown off a cliff near Maphumulo last week Monday, January 20.

The Ballito Specialised Rescue Unit was mobilised after hearing about the incident on Wednesday and went to the area with police and medical rescue units.

“We rushed up to the area hoping to identify the sight where she had gone missing but the immediate area was about four kilometres. We made a search line along the whole cliff side,” said the Specialised Rescue’s Quentin Power.

However, the team was unable to find any trace of the woman in the dense bush. The man who apparently saw the incident and called emergency services, refused to be interviewed and left the scene before their arrival.

She was last seen leaving a clinic about 12km from her mother’s home on the border of Glendale and Maphumulo on Monday, January 20. The reason for the the reported attack is not known.

Glendale SAPS have begun an investigation into the case.
