Five injured in weekend accidents

Emergency services attend to two accidents on the North Coast.

Two people were injured in a roll-over accident on the N2 north near Tinley Manor yesterday evening just after 5pm.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver lost control and rolled the car several times before stopping on a verge.

The driver and his female passenger got out of the wrecked car and were found on the side of the road.

They were taken to a nearby hospital.

Three people were injured when their car overturned on the R102 near the King Shaka International Airport on Sunday morning.

The driver, an elderly woman and a seven-year-old child were apparently travelling from Canelands towards Tongaat when their car veered off the road, hit a wooden barrier and overturned, landing on a grassy verge.

The two passengers managed to free themselves but the driver’s feet were trapped under the roof of the car.

Emergency services lifted the car with hydraulic equipment while paramedics stabilised the driver, who was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
