The North Coast’s resident mountain bike masters world champ, Natalie Bergstrom has her sights set on Norway to defend her title, and is holding a fund raising ride at Sugar Rush Centre on Sunday, February 9 to help get her there.
After blasting onto the scene in 2011, Bergstrom is known in cycling circles as the ‘pocket rocket’, and has claimed numerous ladies’ titles, particularly in KZN.
Bergstrom has been training hard for the World Championship in September this year, held in Lillehammer, and is determined to bring home the gold, but said she needs all the help she can get to get there.
“I cannot get there without local support.Aanyone can come and ride, and you can run as well if you are more of a runner,” she said
The event, part of the ‘Get Nats to Norway campaign’, promises to be a fun-filled family day, with 40, 18 and five kilometre rides, a market, a supervised kids zone, a water slide and loads of prizes to be won.
Tickets are R150 for the 40km ride, R120 for the 18km and R50 for the 5km.
First ride starts at 7.30am, with the next rides starting after fifteen minute intervals respectively.
