Man rescued with jaws of life

A bakkie rolled in Chakas Rock this morning, trapping the driver inside.

A man had to be cut from his vehicle using the jaws of life this morning after an accident in Chakas Rock.

According to Rapid Care medic Paul Hebst it appeared that the man had lost control of his vehicle while driving on the road between the N2 and Ocean Drive.

“The vehicle rolled, crushing the drivers side of the bakkie and trapping the him inside. He was taken to hospital by Netcare 911.”

The cause of the accident is subject to police investigation.

Also at around 10am a pedestrian sustained serious injuries after he was struck by a car along the Umdloti link Road.

Netcare 911 paramedics found the man lying on the road. They transported him to a local hospital
