Helping Jordan fight his battle

The Battles of the Sexes show will raise money to help Jordan Smith with his battle against cancer.

Good Samaritan Debbie Nicholson is working tirelessly to raise funds for a brave little boy, Jordan Smith (11) who is suffering from a bone cancer called chondroblastic osteosarcoma.
The Ballito resident will be hosting the Battle of the Sexes show at the Barnyard, Gateway to help raise funds to pay Jordan’s medical bills.  In Battle of the Sexes male rock stars take on the divas in a rock and roll show down. The audience will be treated to some of the best tracks from the 60’s to the present. Talented soloists will bring to life the likes of James Brown and Cyndi Lauper .
“I am doing this fund-raiser for Jordan’s journey to try and raise funds for this family which is very much in need of financial support. Jordan is a family friend and I am pleading to everyone to support this initiative,” said Debbie.
Jordan, from Mt Edgecombe, has been through a lot. He went for three operations in one week, so that the doctors could get a sample big enough to make the correct diagnosis. Jordan was rushed to Pretoria to have an aggressive tumour removed from his left femur and a bone graph done which was secured in place with a metal plate.
“Our world was shattered when we heard the devastaing news that Jordan would have to undergo three months of chemotherapy. He has not been able to attend school since March last year,” said his mother, Tracy.
His parents considered home schooling but the first cycle of chemo resulted in a horrifically sick little boy who could not eat or drink and was in hospital in isolation where he spent most of his time sleeping.
“To date he has had seven cycles of chemotherapy and is halfway towards completing the 40 weeks of chemo. We pray and ask that you please support Debbie’s fund-raising show to help cover the over whelming cost of his treatment,” said Jordan’s father, Andrew.
The Battle of the Sexes show will be at the Barnyard, Gateway on May 9. Tickets cost R140 each and a portion of this ticket price goes to Jordan’s medical bills. For more information contact Debbie on 082 290 9313 or debs.nicholson@gmail.com.
