The family were made to lie on the floor while the men ransacked their house.
Tongaat father and his family were left traumatised after three armed men held them up at gunpoint last Thursday night.
The family was in their home in Mithanagar, Tongaat when they heard a loud bang at their door around 8.45pm.
When the father answered the door he was confronted by a man pointing a gun at him.
A police source confirmed that the family were made to lie on the floor and had their heads covered with jackets while the three men ransacked the house.
“No shots were fired and nobody was physically harmed. R100 000 worth of jewellery and R25 000 cash was taken. The men also demanded car keys and left with a VW Caravelle and a Mercedes Benz.”
The VW Caravelle was found in Avoca Hills and police have encouraged the public to stay alert and vigilant.
