Woolworths stores at the Lifestyle Centre and Ballito Bay Mall have been plagued with complaints from shoppers due to empty fridges and low stock.
Woolworths SA took over management of the stores from former franchisee Dula Investments in January.
In a statement the company said it discovered serious issues with the refrigeration and air conditioning at both stores and apologised to its customers for the inconvenience.
“Major repairs are needed at our store at the Lifestyle Centre, so we have suspended sales of perishable foods there for now. We have installed temporary air conditioning at the Ballito Bay Mall and are doing all we can to get the refrigeration up and running as soon as possible.”
Customers may shop online at www.woolworths.co.za and have free delivery to their home or office, until Ballito stores resume perishable food sales.
