Ballito photographer killed in car accident

Juanita Brisley of NitaB Photography was on her way home from a newborn shoot.

The community is in shock following the death of a well-known local photographer.
Juanita Brisley of NitaB Photography was killed in a car accident just outside Richards Bay on Monday night.
The details of the accident are still unclear but it is believes Brisley was coming to back to Ballito on the N2.
Brisley, the photographer who took the photograph that appeared on the Courier’s front page last week, was apparently on her way back from a newborn photography session in Richard’s Bay.
Brisley’s good friend and photography partner Barry Bowditch said he is devastated.
“I feel like I have lost one of my own. We worked together on Saturday night and we had discussed our plans to team up fully to shoot weddings.”
Bowditch said Brisley, who lived in Blythedale but did most of her work in Ballito, would be missed.
“It was not only me, but everyone loved her warmth and beautiful spirit. I was lucky to spend so much time in her company and there will never be another like her.”
Bowditch said Brisley was a beautiful soul and the photography world would miss her bubbly personality.
“Many people speak Afrikaans and English but Juanita spoke photography.”
Brisley leaves behind her fiancé Clive Green and her 22-year-old son.
A memorial service will be held at the Litchi Orchard, a place Brisley loved, on Friday at 10am.

We have put together a gallery of Juanita Brisley’s photographs to honour her memory. You can see more on her blog.
