Thanks to a newly established rescue operation, there are bound to be more than a few wagging tails in town.
Ian Blignaut and Cheryl Herda registered Furever Pet Rescue as a non-profit company (NPC) in November last year and are working to supplying medical treatment to abused and neglected cats and dogs on the North Coast.
“Once the rescued animals have been fostered and nursed back to good health we try to find them loving homes.”
In addition to providing medical treatment, which Blignaut said is often the case with dogs, the animals need to be neutered or spayed.
“Animals giving birth to litters which people cannot afford to look after is often what causes the problem of too many unwanted animals,” said Blignaut.
Three dogs which have been rescued by Furever Pet Rescue, named Lisa, Twinkle-Toes and Lira, are currently being fostered by Gianna Scoulelis and her partner Bruce Kloppers at Animally Haven, an animal sanctuary near Glendale.
Scoulelis, an animal lover, fosters dogs, cats, pigs and even birds at her farm house.
“We are almost completely self-funded and are full to capacity.”
Animally Haven welcomes volunteers and any donations will go towards feeding and caring for animals.
If you would like to volunteer or make a donation contact Scoulelis on 083 799 9449.
