Grader kills four cousins

Grader driver allegedly “known for his love of alcohol.”

The community of Ndwedwe is in shock after three children were killed by a road grader yesterday.

Cousins Hlengiwe Magwaza (11), Langelihle Magwaza(4) Busisani Magwaza (2) and Zanele Magwaza (4) were walking home from school when they hit by the grader.

Hlengiwe fetched the youngest three from Slindokuhle Creche on her way from Oakford Primary School where she was in grade six.

Zanele, Langelihle and Hlengiwe were killed instantly while Busisani died in Osindisweni Hospital a few a hours later.

Ward councillor, Go Ngcobo told the media that the grader driver was “known for his love of alcohol” and was often seen buying beer every morning before work.

Provincial SAPS captain Thulani Zwane said the driver ran away.

“He will be charged with four counts of culpable homicide and reckless driving.”

Provincial education spokesman Muzi Mahlambi expressed condolences to the Magwaza family on behalf of the department.
