Local boy reaches out to Tongaat family
A Ballito youngster has donated R3000 towards twins with serious medical conditions.
Ballito’s Sasson Govender (14) brought tears to the eyes of the Rampursad family from Belverdere, Tongaat, when he donated R3000 towards Jaydon and Jaimee Rampursad’s medical bills.
Sasson read about the family’s plight in last week’s Courier (‘Double Blow for twins’, Courier, March 28).
Suren and Rosy Rampursad are in desperate need of help with medical bills for their five-year-old twins.
Jaydon was diagnosed with leukaemia in January and Jaimee was born with facial macrosia. Jaimee was born only with her left ear and not even an earlobe where her right ear is meant to be.
“When I read the article I was touched by their situation. I had some money saved up to buy a play station. I thought they needed the money more than I need a play-station,” said Govender.
Sasson and his parents, Tendra and Lyn visited the Rampursads on Friday to hand over the cheque.
An emotional Suren and Rosy said they did not have words to express how thankful they were to Govender.
“We are very grateful for this amazing gesture from Sassan it will go a long way towards covering the excess on Jaydon’s five days per week chemotherapy sessions,” said Suren.
He also thanked the Courier for publishing the story that captured Govender’s attention.
