Local girl takes provincial crown

Ballito's Renalda Hoffmann is Miss KZN 2014.

Former Miss Ballito Renalda Hoffman is Kwa-Zulu Natal’s new poster girl after she was crowned Miss KZN at the Gateway Hotel on Saturday, March 22.
The stunningly beautiful Hoffman, who was Miss Ballito in 2012, has always had a passion for social upliftment.
“The purpose of Miss Ballito and Miss KZN comes down to community and charity work. It is who the winner is in her heart, her attitude and the way she feels about people, the community and the action she takes to make a difference,” said Hoffman.
“Since I was a little girl I have been involved in projects, church and outreach programmes and have had a burning passion for the continuous upliftment and improvement of people’s self-worth, to encourage them in even the worst circumstances and to inspire those around me,” she said.
The pageant was run by RoleModels South Africa. Contestants are judged on their personality projection, confidence, leadership qualities, communication skills and natural exuberance and beauty.
Hoffman is already involved with the iLembe Chamber’s Woman in Business Forum, which supports 21 local crèches and she hopes to use her new title to further touch the lives of the needy.
“I have jumped onto another stepping stone to impact the lives of children in circumstances we in a warm home with our books, food and blankets cannot even begin to fathom,” said Hoffman.
Her new title also comes with some added responsibility.
“As the ambassador for KZN, I will attend functions, do volunteer work and judge other pageants.”
The winners from each province qualify to participate in the national competition, Mzantsi  Africa role model pagent, in December.
“As for Miss South Africa – that would be an absolute dream come true, and I would have loved to have entered but unfortunately I am too old at 25 – the age category ends at 24.”
