A Tongaat woman (55) was shot by her alleged lover in front of Victoria Hospital last night.
She suffered two gunshot wounds to her lower body and is currently receiving treatment at the aforementioned hospital.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) media liaison officer, Prem Balram when their officers arrived on the scene witnesses told them that the driver of a white Nissan bakkie stopped outside the hospital and forced the woman out of the car. He then shot her twice and fled the scene.
“The woman and the driver of the bakkie are allegedly involved in an extra-marital affair. After leaving her at the hospital the man drove to the woman’s home in Desainagar. Her husband, who was at home at the time, said the man banged on the door and demanded he come out of the house,” Balram.
Tongaat SAPS is searching for the alleged shooter, driving a white Nissan bakkie registration number NJ 67066.
“Please contact the police if spotted. He is armed and considered dangerous to the public and himself. He was last seen in Maharaj Street last night but fled on police arrival,” said Lt Mandy Govender.
People with any information to help with the investigation are urged to contact the police on 032-9449930 or RUSA 086 1234 333.
