KwaDukuza taxi chairman ambushed

Shots fired on Monday night.

KwaDukuza Taxi Association chairman, Sanele Zondi (36) was ambushed by armed men who fired numerous shots at him near Durban North on Monday night.
Associations vice-chairman, Bongizwe Mhlongo said they did not know what the motive behind the shooting was but “it was definitely not a hijacking.”
“We suspect they must have followed him from Stanger and the opportunity for them to do what they wanted presented itself near Durban North,” said Mhlongo.
Zondi escaped without injury.
KZN SAPS spokesperson, captain Thulani Zwane said the Durban North SAPS were investigating a case of attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
“The motive of the shooting is unknown and no arrest has been made at this stage,” said Zwane.
