Thanking their Lord Muruga

Lord Muruga devotees brought Tongaat to a standstill during Kavady.

A spectacle of colourful outfits, music and dance filled the streets of Tongaat as thousands of Hindus celebrated the annual Kavady Festival on Saturday.

The festival was hosted by the Brake Village Sri Siva Soobramaniar Alayam which is also celebrating its hundredth year anniversary this year.

Lord Muruga devotees from around the country came out to celebrate together in a day long event that started with a flag hoisting ceremony on April 2.

Bhajan groups from different temples led the procession from Tongaat Outspan Ground to the Brake Village.
