Rajuili rumbles at Gold Reef City

Local boxer wins in Johannesburg.

Salt Rock resident David Rajuili earned the third win of his professional boxing career in Johannesburg last Thursday.

Rajuili (25) fought Paul Magxilana in a featherweight bout on Thursday evening at Gold Reef City, which was organised by BRD Boxing Promotions.

His win came in the form of unanimous decision, with the judges scoring 45-40, 36-36 and 35-40 in favour of Rajuili. The fight was Rajuili’s fifth professional bout.

His record now stands at two wins, two losses and one draw. He is currently ranked 25 in the country in his division as a featherweight boxer.

“It felt really good to get another win under my belt. I am fighting again in a few weeks, we just need to confirm the date,” said Rajuili.

“I am feeling really fit. Most people have full time jobs, but mine is to be in the gym and train all day. I could fight again tomorrow if I had to,” he said.

Rajuili has his sights set on the KZN featherweight title f i g h t which gets underway on April 10. Winning the fight will see him named the top f e a t h e r w e i g h t boxer in KZN.

“You start at the bottom and fight your way up so I will eventually get there.” Fighting professionally means long days in the gym but there is also a monetary reward for those who come out top in the ring.

However, this is not what drives Rajuili. “I am not doing this for the money, I do it for the love of the sport.” Rajuili trains at the Ringside Boxing gym in Ballito.

He is currently training under Harley Milem and is managed by Francois Botha.
