Children locked out of Shakaskraal Primary School

Education department officials are attempting to mediate the situation.

The pupils of Shakaskraal Primary School were locked outside the school this morning and were standing at the school gates for the past two hours.

The school principal Vinesh Singh and some teachers were apparently also outside with the children.

Education department officials have arrived at the school and are attempting to mediate the situation.

The school gates have now been opened and the children have been moved into the assembly area.

The reasons behind the unrest are unclear. However initial reports suggest that at last night’s school meeting parents expressed their unhappiness with the Education department’s management of the ward.
