Two tickets to university

Two university students get a helping hand.

Two university students have been given full bursaries for their studies by Sembcorp Siza Water.

The initiative, now in its second year, will see the students’ studies paid for in full, as well as having their transport and text books reimbursed by Ilembe’s water service provider.

Buyi Ntuli (21) and Vikash Diplal (19), who are both from Shakaskraal, are the lucky recipients.

Ntuli is in her second year at Durban University of Technolgy, where she is studying financial information systems. Diplal is studying towards bachelor of commerce in accounting.

“It is overwhelming to have someone sponsor my studies. It will allow me to pursue my dreams and help my family live a comfortable life,” said Diplal.

Sembcorp Siza Water’s managing director, Shyam Misra is excited for the students’ futures.

“I wish them both success in their studies and urge them to remember that what you put in is what you get out. Looking after your family is very important and this will give them the chance to say thank you to their parents later in life,” said Misra.

The students will have their studies paid for until they have completed their degrees. Sembcorp will continue to monitor their results and will employ them during the longer holidays for work experience.

If our budget allows it, we may select another applicant for a bursary next year,” Misra added.
