Weekend crime report by Umhlali police

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:

* Early on Sunday morning a policeman was assaulted by a man outside a Ballito nightclub. The man was allegedly drunk and was subdued and arrested after attacking the policeman.

* A woman was allegedly assaulted by her ex-boyfriend at the Boulevard shopping centre after they had an argument.

* A house was broken into on Glendale Road on Sunday night. A dvd player and pellet gun were stolen from the house.

* On Sunday night a woman was held at knife-point by two intruders who broke into her home in Etete. They made off with clothes and a cellphone. The resident was unharmed.

* An inquest docket was opened to investigate a car accident that claimed a man’s life on the the N2 near Tinley Manor early on Sunday morning.

* A woman was raped in Shakashead on Sunday night. She had been at her boyfriend’s house when he left with a friend to go buy beer. The other man in the house forced her to leave. He took her to his house where he allegedly raped her and locked her inside overnight.

* A man had his car stolen near Willard Beach while he was out surfing on Saturday. He had hidden his keys in the sand. When he returned the keys and the car had been stolen.

* On Saturday night a flat in Kenwyn on Sea was broken into. The resident had left a second-story window open when he went to bed. A number of items were stolen.

* A four-year-old was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man in Nkobongo on Saturday afternoon. An arrest has been made.

* A man locked his house in Tinely Manor on Saturday when he went out. He returned to find the door forced open and various items were stolen.

* On Saturday evening a man was assaulted by a thief after he tried to help a woman who was being robbed in Shakashead.

* While drawing cash at an ATM in Umhlali on Saturday, a man was knocked over by a robber who then stole his bank card and ran away.

* A car window was smashed and items were stolen from inside over night on Friday on Gail Road in Sheffield.

* A number of items were stolen from a house in Zimbali on Friday night. The resident only noticed that items were missing the next morning.

* Two woman were arrested for stealing clothes from Mr Price on Friday.

* Tools valued at R10 000 were stolen from a garage on Ocean View Road in Shakaskraal on Friday.

Umhlali SAPS arrested 23 people for drinking in public, 10 for possession of marijuana, three for possession of drugs, two for selling liquor without a license and one person was arrested for drunk driving.
