Vehicle ploughs into four pedestrians in Umhlali

Four pedestrians left in critical condition.

Four pedestrians were left injured, three critically on Ballito Drive just outside of the Umhlali Country Club  just before 8am this morning.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said a vehicle had veered off the road and ploughed into four pedestrians walking along the pavement.

“The driver must have hit them at quite a speed because they are very seriously injured,” said Botha.

The paramedics found the pedestrians lying at the side of the roadway when they arrived.

All pedestrians were placed on ventilators.

One person was airlifted to the Albert Luthuli General Hospital in Durban, while the others were taken in for further medical care.
